I am a graduate of the apprenticeship program within the Laborers international union of north America, local 477. During my 5 years of work with local 477,I have worked as a Carpenter tender on numerous jobs. I have performed many different tasks on heavy highway projects. I have worked the state fair as a constriction laborer/ carpenter tender twice.(2008-2011) I spent the majority of two and a half years working the high-speed rail project and was appointed working foreman for the last year of the project. I have spent time tending carpenters on the State Capital Building renovation, White Oaks Mall renovation, Washington Middle School renovation and upgrades to St.Johns Hospital. I am currently working with a subcontractor for Ameren Illinois installing new gas main and home service gas lines.
I was awarded Local 477 Laborer of the year for 2012.
during my time on the high-speed rail project I spent each day designing detour blueprints and executing the setup of the detour. As foreman I had to adapt instantly and communicate with everyone evolved to assure all detour's were completed 100% to the approved detour blueprints.
I went through the apprenticeship program and learned all fields required to preform duties as a Journeymen laborer. I had to complete 3000 hours of on the job training and 5 weeks each year for three years of training at the tanning center. This gave me the tools necessary to work as an asphalt worker, a level 2 concrete specialist, I had the opportunity to take the traffic control supervisor class and put to use on the high-speed rail job for two and a half years. I have been on numerous jobs as a carpenter tender. As a tender at the fairgrounds we had to keep in contact over our radios to run orders form the carpenters to and from the shop or to location. I had to take exact notes to get orders completed quick and right the first time.
