Neil Chi Lab- UCSD Division of Cardiovascular Medicine
As a student volunteer researcher, I have my own independent research project that utilizes zebrafish as a model organism. Using zebrafish, I study the gene expression patterns of cardiomyocytes found in the atrio-ventricular canal (AVC) at varying stages of development. In particular, I will be studying the role of the tbx2b gene in the formation of these AVC cardiomyocytes, as well as the unique biological properties of AVC cardiomyocytes.
