My entire career has been working with the public in the medical field. I have mostly focused on Phlebotomy with assisting in registering patients, entering insurance information, some basic ICD-9 coding, phone conversations with other medical offices and direct patient care from pediatric to geriatric.
Currently certified in Phlebotomy through the American Society of Clinical Pathologist.
I travel to patients homes to do blood collections for those who are homebound. I use a laptop to verify patient information such as address and insurance while being sure to pay close attention to HIPPA rules and regulations.
During my current employment with RRMC I work within the building with other phlebotomist and on my own at satellite labs around Rutland County. I am responsible for the registering of patients, some insurance verification, coding for lab procedures, basic specimen processing and contact with physicians offices.
During my time there I was responsible for checking patients in, verifying insurance information, entering patients demographics into the computer system, doing the phlebotomy and other specimen collections and any other needs of the patients. I also had direct contact with the physicians offices.
