As a recess aide my responsibilities were basically to keep and eye on the 5th and 6th graders at mackinaw trail middle school during lunch time. During lunch we would wipe the tables, dismiss the students to go outside, make sure there is no horseplay in the cafeteria, etc. After lunch we would go outside where we would keep and eye on the playground, making sure everyone is playing nice. There were times that we had to respond quickly if a student got sick or injured on the playground. When a student got injured we took them inside, made sure they got the appropriate care, and made sure all needed paperwork is filled out for the students file.
During the day they have a pre-school program with children ages 3-4. I mostly go in and relieve aides for their break times. I make sure that the lunch gets to the building. Watch the children while they are outside. Load and unload buses.
During the evening I do clubhouse which is a daycare provider through CAPS. I ride the bus with the kids from Franklin Elementary to Clubhouse. I do attendance and make sure every child is accounted for. I walk the kids down so they can hang up their coats, backpacks, etc. We walk back down to the bathroom so they can all line up to wash their hands, after that we go to the classroom and have snack which the other clubhouse aide would have provided and gotten ready prior to our arrival. Then we get all of our outside items on and go outside for a minimum of 30 minutes (unless its raining or below zero) followed by indoor activity. Parents will come in on and off to pick up their children and we have to make sure we know who they are leaving with. When all the kids are gone the other aide and I will then disinfect the room, do the dishes, turn everything off, and then secure the building.
