Duties & Responsibilities
*Assist staff with animal intake/outcomes. These include strays, adoptions, owner surrenders, returned adoptions, transfer of ownership, transfer to/from other 501C3 organizations, and animals seized by our humane officer.
*Make public safety a priority as we evaluate and match appropriate animals with appropriate adopters when adopting out shelter owned animals. Review applications, approve/deny applications and schedule the approved an appointment for pickup.
*Process cremations in a timely manner. Maintain crematorium equipment, organize & prepare all files which are inspected twice yearly.
*Supervise daily work assignments & ensure work is completed in a timely fashion. Mediate disputes, conflicts, or grievances between staff, volunteers, or customers. Make certain all areas of the facility are in safe working conditions, sanitary and organized for our shelter pets, staff, volunteers and customers.
*Ensure staff provide a high standard of care to every animal in our facility. Utilize sound judgement when identifying signs of animal illnesses or injuries and take appropriate action. Administer daily medications & medical treatments of shelter pets.
*Assist Paul Gottshall on cruelty & neglect complaints during & after hours of operation if assistance is needed.
*Complete all necessary paperwork when a staff member, volunteer, or customer becomes injured or is bitten by an animal.
*Respond to emails throughout the day, updating & promoting shelter pets on all social media.
* Morning cleaning. Includes the large dog kennel, small dog room, infirmary, and small animals in the lobby area.
*As a member of the Behavioral Team, come up with enrichment plans and strategies to safely handle animal that has become stressed due to shelter environment.
*30 day & yearly staff evaluations.
