PLASTINATION:
*Produced plastinated prosections of the brain of the dog.
*Conducted workshops on plastination at ISU, and at Interim Meetings of the International Society for Plastination introducing novices to plastination techniques.
*Presented papers at Biannual Meetings of the International Society for Plastination.
*Performed demonstrations of plastination procedures at conventions and meetings.
*Published 2 papers on plastination techniques in the Journal for Plastination.
*Consulted novice plastinators by phone.
*Collaborated with Ronn Wade at University of Maryland at Baltimore to produce thin semitransparent whole body section of a human body.
*Produced plastinated cross sections of two human cadavers for Triton College, Chicago, IL.
SKELTONS and BONES:
*Produced one skeleton of the ox and one skelton of the horse for the University of Nebraska.
*Repaired existing skeletons.
*Produced bone sets of the dog skeletons.
*Produced skeletons of exotic animals: emu, tiger.
*Maintained a colony of dermestid beetles to clean bone.
*Carved petrous bones to show semicircular canals and other details of the middle ear and inner ear. Carved frontal sinuses of sheep and horse .
*Produced plastic models of bones using the spincasting method.
NEUROANATOMY WET MOUNTS:
Prosected and wet mounted brain specimens of the dog and cat in plexiglass cases.
Prosected and wet mounted specimens of the auditory system of the dog.
Prosected and wet mounted spinal cords of dog and horse.
EMBALMING:
Formulated an embalming fluid to reduce formaldehyde exposure of students and staff.
INSTRUCTION RELATED:
*produced videos on safe handling of specimens an dissection instruments.
*Produced dissection guide videos and still images.
*Prosected and demonstrated the pig anatomy to students.
*Acted as teaching assistant in various labs.
*Facilitated the transition to online learning in response to the COVID -19 pandemic by producing prosections, pictures and videos.

ZEW, SVECCS, AAEP 4-H Night, Veterinary Experience Workshop, AABP & Therio Clubs, Ophthalmology Club, IVMA Vet Camps, Aquatic Life VEISHA, Ag Adventure, Animal Welfare Club, Hoof Trimming Workshop, Silver Bits Pony Club, Ellsworth College Anatomy and Physiology Class, SCAVMA dog wash, individual hands-on experience for a blind high school student.
RESEARCH RELATED:
*Designed and set up cameras and mazes to record animal behavior.
*Designed and fabricated a dark chamber to photograph cultures.
*Advised grad student in measuring thickness of swine hooves.
*Collaborated and co-authored in experiments to improve humane euthanasia of slaughter animals.
FACILITIES:
*Improved specimen storage in the walk-in cooler by using movable racks to safe instructional time in the laboratory.
*Aided in the redesign of the Gross Anatomy Lab at several make-overs.
*Advised engineers at the University of Oklahoma on designing a venting system for dissection tables for human anatomy.
*Aided in designing the Human Anatomy Lab at ISU, College of Veterinary Medicine.
*Improved specimen storage by using movable racks for large animal specimens.
EQUIPMENT REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE:
*Cell disruptor, Cryotome, shakers, lypholizer, centrifuges, Faraday cages, refrigerators, walk-in freezers and refrigerators.
*Modified trailer to safely take sensitive equipment to pastures.
