I have been a life long Dunn Loring Swim Club (DLSC) member. One of my first memories at DLSC was finally passing the patch test when I was 5, after 3 failed attempts, and being more excited about joining the swim team than I was about going of the diving boards. I continued to be a swimmer on the Dunn Loring Swim Team until I was 18 last summer. Additionally, I have swum year round between the ages of 5-15. I also swam at George C. Marshall (GCM) High School my freshman, sophomore, and senior year. I also played Varsity soccer all four years of high school. Furthermore, in high school I completed a lot of service hours, including being a Girls on the Run coach at West Gate Elementary School. I gradated from GCM high school in 2020, and I am now at the University of Virginia studying biomedical engineering. This upcoming season I am looking forward to applying my abilities and knowledge to improve kids strokes, times, and foster an enjoyable environment to learn/practice swimming. I also intend to carry on Dunn Loring Swim Team traditions that helped make my seasons when I was younger.

As a summer swim team coach I help kids achieve legality in all strokes, improved kids stroke techniques, consistently helped kids drop time in A and B meets, and created a fun and encouraging environment for everyone on the team. Additionally, I also helped with writing the meet sheets, going to all the team events (movie day, bowling, and pep rallies), made crafts that were given to the kids (BEast of the Week shirts and Paper plate awards, and continued to carry out Dunn Loring tradition's (making meet sheets and decorating swimmers yards with dolphins before A meets). Because I have been both a winter and summer swim coach for a while and have actively participated in all the team building events, I have a good relationship with kids who are returning to the Dunn Loring Swim Club, and I am also confident these qualities will ensure that I will make new relationships easily with kids that are new to the program.
As a Winter Swim coach I primarily focused on improving the techniques of swimmers. Primarily, I worked with kids of all ages improving their backstroke techniques, since backstroke was the stroke I excelled in in high school, year round, and summer swim team. Although I mainly worked with kids on backstroke technique, I am familiar with all the strokes and ended up helping kids techniques in freestyle, butterfly, and breaststroke as well.
As a coach for Girls on the Run at West Field Elementary School, I worked with another coach to create fun practices that were aimed at improving the sense of self and confidence in young girls. Additionally, each week I tried to run with different girls and talk with them during runs. At summer swim team, like the girls on the Girls on the Run, I will make sure that everyone on the team gets attention. Furthermore, I noticed over the past swim season coaches pick favorite kids and focus on them, I will to rotate the coaches frequently and constantly promote helping not only the good swimmers but everyone on the swim team to adress this problem. In turn this would ensure that everyone on the has an oppurtunity to meet every coach and they are benefiting from instruction from various coaches.
Monitored behaviors of patrons for safety violations and took steps to prevent further violations and injury. This job also included cleaning the bathrooms and the pool deck, vacuuming the pool, and having and applying my first aid knowledge.
When I worked at the snack bar at Dunn Loring Swim Club, I got people their food and drinks in a timely manner. I also Completed opening, closing and shift change tasks (counting money and cleaning the snack bar at the end of my shift) to promote store efficiency and cleanliness.
