Hard-working entry-level Emergency Medical Technician and Pre-Medicine student, looking to apply my education and gain experience in health care. Areas of proficiency include basic life support, management, treatment, and assessment of patients with both medical and traumatic emergencies, and assistance with medications. Shadowing Dr. David Antonio, many patient contacts. Applied knowledge and diagnosis. Observed surgeries, made rounds and spent about 40 hours doing everything the physician did. Gained important knowledge and insight about the life of a surgeon and working in a hospital. I was able to experience over a a hundred and fifty patient contacts.
I have observed procedures including femoral rod placement, total knee revision, plate removal, arthroscopy, external fixation, and multiple hip fracture repairs.
Spent 16 hours as a student EMT during which I used many skills including CPR, AED, BVM ventilation, Assistance with Paramedic, Airway management, and patient transport, all while under paramedic supervision.
Currently in the ride-along program to observe and learn EMT skills.
I have spent 24 hours as a student in the RGH Emergency Room, where I practiced history taking and assessment. I was able to observe interesting interventions like cardioversion, have several patient contacts, and gain insight on ER atmosphere and management of Emergency situations.
I was also allowed to observe Gal Bladder removal.
I am a full time Pre-Medicine student majoring in Science with Health Prep/Professional Science concentration and minoring in Psychology, Chemistry, and Biology. I am currently on the dean's list and have a 4.0 university GPA.
