As an active member in my school's HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) organization, I have taken a Clinical Rotations class. This class required me to visit Bayshore Hospital and St. Luke's Patients Hospital once a week to shadow medical professionals. Throughout my clinical rotations, I was able to get a first hand look at what every department in a common hospital is responsible for and also help out real doctors in real life situations.Although this was not a paid position, I truly enjoyed the experience that ensured me as a student that I want to prosper in the medical field. This class has prepared me for a bright future in medicine.
In the HOSA organization I am in, we went as a group to Miller Intermediate in Pasadena, TX, and got to help out a teacher in the classroom of our choice. I chose a first year teacher who had a hard time keeping her rambunctious students concentrated and on task. I assisted the teacher with anything she needed help with, such as organization, passing out worksheets, keeping students focused on their assignments, and most of all walking around the room making myself available to any student who needed help with their work. This was a volunteer activity where I got the chance to help out the less fortunate and share my education with other students.
