Certified Coding Specialist with an extensive background in Radiology.
I was responsible for assigning the appropriate ICD-10 CM diagnosis codes for Inpatient and Outpatient encounters, PCS codes for Inpatient procedures, and CPT codes for Outpatient procedures according to the coding guidelines.
I obtained my Registry in MRI in 2010 through the ARRT. Since 2007 I have been obtaining quality MRI/MRA images of the Brain, MRA images of the Carotids and Renals, MRI images of the Spine, Extremeties, Pelvis, Abdomen (Liver, MRCP, Pancreas), Kidneys, and Breast. I have experience in MIP techniques for MRA exams, operating the MRI contrast injector and MRI safe Heart monitor, starting IV's for contrast administration, daily magnet QC, weekly ACR phantom QC, monthly coil cleaning and visual damage checks. Additionally, when needed, I am responsible for entering/correcting patient orders, selecting the appropriate diagnosis for the exam, and contacting the Physician's office if the order needs to be revised.
As a Radiologic Technologist since 2006, I have been responsible for obtaining quality radiologic images of the skeletal system as well as the small and large intestines through the administration of Barium and Gastroview contrast medium as well as the administration of Iodinated contrast for IVP's. I am also responsible for reporting to the Operating room to run the C-ARM for orthopedic cases, urology cases and general surgery cases. I have experience with both GE CR x-ray machines and Siemens Ysio DR x-ray machines. I completed additional training in April of 2012 to become a 'Super User' for the Ysio machinery. I also have experience with the use of both CR and DR portable x-ray machines. Though primarily on day shift, I have been responsible for working all shifts, some of which require being the sole Radiologic Technologist on shift.
I am also a Radiologic Technologist at my facility's Orthopedic Clinic where, in addition to performing quality orthopedic radiographic images, I also am responsible for assigning the appropriate CPT codes to each patient's chart for the radiographic exams performed each day.
Though not a registered CT technologist, I have been trained since 2006 in obtaining quality images of the Brain, Chest, Spine, Abdomen, Pelvis and Extremeties, both with and without the administration of contrast, be it oral and/or intravenous. I have been responsible for operating the contrast injector, performing daily QC on the phantom and performing periodic check ups on the Siemens scanner.
In addition to these duties, I am also trained to assist in the Radiology office where I assist with entering orders and diagnoses, answering phone calls, scheduling exams, faxing reports and patient related information, and am a part of the department's employee scheduling committee.
