I have extensive experience as a cashier and a customer service associate. I have worked many years at my grandfather's farm providing assistance to customers and calculating their tab. I also am a current student enrolled in Bucknell University and a member of the Division 1 varsity rowing team; therefore, my cooperation skills and leadership abilities are second to none.
As a student athlete throughout high school and college, I did not have the opportunity to work on a regular basis. Rowing has been my job in both high school and college. However, as a member of a highly ranked rowing team, I have become an extremely disciplined and hardworking individual who has contributed to wins at national regattas.
My boat obtained a first place finish at the Aberdeen Dad Vail regatta, which is the largest collegiate regatta in the country. My boat has also displayed second place finishes at both the Patriot League Championships and the Knecht cup, which is a competition containing over 70 schools across the country.
The performances by myself and my boat members show that I can perform under pressure and that I work very hard for my successes. I take nothing for granted and my many accolades represent my dedication and determination.
The skills I have learned from rowing carry over to anything I am passionate about, including my school work and my job.
As a student athlete at Bucknell, I learned important life skills such as time management, the importance of loving what you do, the importance of punctuality and arranging my priorities in life. I have gained the sense of responsibility and sensibility. What started as a captain in high school carried through to college, continuously improving my cooperation skills and adaptability to a variety of different personalities and ages.
Some achievements during my first year of college rowing:
Gold Medals at the Murphy Cup and the Aberdeen Dad Vail regatta, which is the largest collegiate regatta in the country.
Silver medals at the Knecht cup and the Patriot league Championships, which both contain fierce competition from across the country.
As a high school rower and captain, I earned many awards and set new records for the city of Pittsburgh. My leadership skills improved immensely throughout my high school experience, leading me to feel comfortable taking charge of groups of people. My teamwork and cooperation skills also improved, leading me to feel more confident both in school and daily life. In any situation, communication is key. My communication skills improved during my time as Captain, as I had to take charge and transfer the coaches orders to the other team members. Some highlights of the high school rowing career:
In 2010, twice in 2011, twice in 2012, and in 2013, I set rowing records for the city of Pittsburgh. These awards taught me to always follow my goals and to be persistent. I learned to never give up, which has helped me to become truly passionate about everything I set my mind to.
I was very involved in my church community. As head Altar server, I worked with the priest every weekend and assisted him in conducting the mass. Being head altar server was very important and helped me to grow and develop throughout the years. Through this job, I learned many things such as manners, attentiveness and the importance of being on time, every time.
My responsibilities were to use mental math to arrive at the customer's total, I would restock the shelves with fruit and vegetables, and I would assist customer in finding what they were looking for. The results of my hard work was not only a significant pay raise, but I also learned patience and how to think fast and make sure the customer left the store with what they were looking for. Working at a vegetable stand, I was thrust out of my comfort zone, which forced me to become more adaptable and flexible to all kinds of people. Becoming more adaptable led me to successfully complete many sales and to become an invaluable employee.
