Received an Educational Grant April 2015 from the Flour Bluff ISD Educational Foundation for my project The Beams Road to Success.
The Beams Road to Success was a grant proposal showcasing the use of an adapted musical instrument and how integrating the instrument in instruction increased student participation. The Beams allowed students that cannot access musical instruments to be able to play music in a variety of ways either through switch activation or simple head, feat and or hand movements. When using the instrument concepts that were taught were directions such as North, South, East, and West. Students that previously did not participate became engaged when they were able to independently access the instrument and produce orchestra quality music.
