I have worded with the Job Corp Program since 1975. I started as a Residential Advisor at the Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos, Texas and have worked myself up to the Social Development Director at several of the Job Corps Centers, including my current position at Old Dominion Job Corps Center. I have worked in the Social Development Department my entire Job Corps career. I have directed the following departments: Residential Living, Counseling, Health Services, Recreation, Student Government, and Center Standards. I helped to initiate the Redirect Program at the Tulsa Job Corps Center where it was rated as a success by the Nation Job Corps Director, Mary Silva. I have also completed Management Training Corporation School. During my directorship, my departments improved in all areas form the previous Department of Labor Reviews. My staff and student moral was very high, which meant staff and student retention. At all of the centers that I have worked, I have touched and helped to change lives. I love my students and go out of my way to meet their needs and show them that someone cares. I am always visible in my departments and throughout the center to assist and train my employees and to let them know that I am there for them. I work long hours and have an excellent attendance record, because I love my job and I set the example for my staff.
