Work with a multipdisciplinary team with children and adolescents ranging in age from 5-18. Provide clinical supervision to mental health workers to ensure delivery of care. Provides direct nursing care to all patients, for both medical and mental health needs. Assist in the maintanence of a safe and theraputic milieu for all children and adolescents. Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures relating to residential level of care. Participates in development of treatment plans for individulaized care. Reports pertinient information to psychiatrist, social worker and nursing supervisor.Responsible for reviewing medication adminstration records for accuracy and replacing them with new medication administration records every 2 weeks. Conducts new employee med tech training as well as supervisong ongoing medication training of current employees. Track medication errors and report to supervisor eduation given to employees or recomended follow up for additional training. Responds to medical and behavioral emergencies, directing staff as appropriate for ongoing appropriate care care. Maintains cerification in CPR and CPI. Have provided on call nursing assistance when nursing supervisor unavailable to residential. Provide medical and medication continuing eduation to family and residents. Make residents medical appointments and convey appropriate info to treatment team
Duties included the direct supervision of 3-5 Health Care Technicians, and 1-2 LPNs delivering direct care to 15-28 patients. Making out the staff assignments and making changes as the ward needs changed. Patient and family medical and medication education, development of nursing care plans based on patient needs and abilities. Monitors care given to patietns requiring seclusion, restaint and protective devices. Completes nursing assesment upon admission, again at 24 and 48 hours after admission. Completes weekly behavior progress notes for 8 weeks then monthly depending on their length of stay.
