Demonstrates an understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders, and utilizes effective behavior management techniques to increase communication, socialization, and daily basic living skills. Also demonstrates the ability to provide positive treatment approaches (ABA) to help decrease maladaptive behaviors. Demonstrates general knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and medications used most often in the treatment of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Demonstrates skill in teaching children/adolescents coping skills and healthy behavior management skills. Monitor patients for aggression, self-injurious behaviors, depression, suicidal ideation and related problems. Functions as an educational/instructional aide assisting in children in completing specific work-tasks. Consistency implements the unit program, routines, rules and operations guidelines, point system, and data collection. Effectively communicates with the other staff concerning patient behaviors, regularly participates in and conducts shift report, reads and initials the unit communication book on a daily basis. Supports and assist residents in a variety of activities, including daily living skills, self-care, communications, social skills, and individual counseling. A ends daily shift exchange/treatment team meetings providing information to evaluate the resident's. Escort residents on campus and/or provides transport to resident off campus for activities such as; scheduled doctor visits, hospital changes, individual relate incidents or events, and required reporting applicable to directives such as medication observations and bed checks. Serves as a role model for de-escalation techniques and facilitate debriefing after incidents. Writes debriefing reports and sends to proper people. Serves as a role model for UTRS job duties throughout shift: demonstrates accordance with policy and procedure while serving meals, recording daily care records, operating building control panel, pod checks, answering phones, and controlling access to the building by all individuals wishing to enter/exit the building.
