Summary

My name is Jessica Smith and I am a register nurse that has a true passion for the career I have been able to work in for the past 22 Years. I have a strong understanding and knowledge of Labor and Delivery, postpartum, OR, and well nursery. I am detail-oriented, responsive and proficient in routine care and emergency situations. I always put my best efforts forward in being highly organized, proactive, punctual, and team oriented. I have been an intricate part of setting up a bereavement program. I have had the blessing of being a part of patients care when they have had a loss during their pregnancy. I have been able to go through the bereavement process with patients and help them prior to, during, and after delivery. Some of the hardest times yet biggest blessings of my career. I have a working knowledge of the OR and have gone through the RNFA program. I have worked in a leadership role and have been able to be proactive in using the tools, skills, and knowledge that I gained throughout that time to encourage team work, compassion for the role we play in the patients care, and encouraging effective communication with all members of the team. During this leadership role I had the opportunity of helping open up the Gateway WIS unit and was able to learn an even deeper knowledge of what it takes for a unit to be successful from the ground levels. I have found through the years that when you are truly able to do the work that you love and work with a team that is all in it together it is no longer a job, but a family supporting and uplifting one another to be able to provide the best care for our patients. I look forward to being able to have the opportunity to continue this amazing journey in being a part of an evolving career that can make a positive impact on patient care through continuing education, maintaining skills, teamwork, effective communication and keeping the patient as the center of care.
