DNP Project: Conducted at Heartland Health Center (HHC), Albany Park, IL, which serves a wide range of racial and ethnic minorities and patients from all stages of life (pediatric through elderly) and socioeconomic backgrounds (including patients at or below poverty level and the uninsured). This project involved collaboration with the Medical Director at the Albany Park center in developing quality improvement initiatives to improve the uncontrolled hypertension rate at HHC. Conducted a needs-based assessment including, researching, interviewing staff & patients and conducting skilled observations of the care team coordinators. Attained micro-grant from American Heart Association: Target BP Campaign to be used toward this project.
Capstone project: Spent 5 months at King Arts Magnet School, Evanston, IL, working with the school nurse and teaching faculty on developing a curricula for the 2nd grade students that involved improving hand hygiene, thus preventing the spread of transmissible diseases by developing educational material that could be used by the teaching staff for their students.
