Enthusiastic worker, love to be up and doing stuff. I absolutely hate standing around. It makes me look at the clock and for some reason it start's to go two times slower. That is why I love Fast paced jobs. Always on time because I made a rule of showing up ten minutes prior to the time I am required to be there. I played soccer for ten plus years and because of that I gained the skills of leadership, challenging others, and always being competitive. It can be sometimes a curse in a blessing because I would always want to come out in first place and I get ahead of myself but after being talked to I will kno my place. I'm also a person that loves to be social, so any job where I have to talk to customers or help team members out is a huge plus for me. Working on cars has also taught me patients just because when a part does not want to come out of the vehicle, sometimes you just need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, and if that fails. Asking for some help is never a bad thing. My father once told me, " there is no such thing as a dumb question in the first forty-five minutes." opportunity
I would first inspect the vehicle for any chips, cracks, or scratches of any kind, then i would get all the information about the vehicle and would insert it into our Reynold and Reynold system. I would then dispatch the vehicle to the correct department, the technician would send me what needs to be done to the vehicle to get up to manufacture's specifications. I will look up how much the parts cost and how much the labor would be to fix the car and send an estimate to Ford RAV Headquarters. They would either approve or scrap the vehicle. If scraped, my job ends there. I will notify the technician of the vehicle's status, but if the estimate is approved. Parts would be released to the technician to get the vehicle up to specs. Once done I notify my superiors and let them know this vehicle is complete and is ready to be picked up and sold in a auction.
As a technician here at Fritts Ford, I would be moving and supporting department where they were either falling behind on work or because they had so much,they needed a helping hand. I first started in the Line department, which is all of our gas engine work. Cars that are puking oil or the check engine light was on, would have to go through me. I was then switched to the Lube department and there we did maintenance, there was alot of oil changes, tire rotations, filter from small as oil filter all the way to fuel filters on diesel. I also had the pleasure of working in the Diesel/ Rv department. In this department I would have to do alot of the heavy work which included; replacing turbos, brakes on Rvs, egr and oil coolers, radiators and small things like hub caps. So as you've read I'm really good on working with my hands and problem solving just from working on cars.
This job does not require alot of brain work but alot of labor work. Customers would call in and let the company know that their containers are full and need to be picked up. We would then drive to the clients company and pick up all the material they wanted us to take and leave them with new barrels. I would then take the material back to the yard and weigh the product and start to sort out the material. For example, we go to this company in Corona and they sell us alot of their aluminum, stainless, and steel. Separating the aluminum was the easiest because we have a fairly big magnet to pick up all the steel shavings. The hardest part is working with the stainless, because there is more than one type of stainless, but they all look the same. We are very careful when dumping the material, one person would have to use a rake to pull the material while another uses a special gun that is able to read all times of metals.
At Best Buy I only worked in two different departments. Even though I did not work there for a very long time, I was still able to learn a few things while I was employed there. Best Buy really showed how to have patience with customers when trying to explain the product or a situation. In my first department was "Connected Home." Which was all of smart home devises like; modem, routers, security cameras, alexa, and phillips hue's light. In my second department, I sold tvs, soundbars, and home theatre equipment. My manager really prepped me for that department. We had a thing called W.U.S.A. It stands for welcome,understand,sell,appreciate. I took this to heart and applied it to everything. Even here at Fritts ford, I welcome the transporter, understand what is wrong with the vehicle, sell the job to RAV so I can get approval for the vehicle, and I appreciate everyone that had to help me to get the vehicle down.
