After graduating from Meredith College, I embarked on an exciting career choice and opened my own Interior Design business. I built it from ground up and successfully ran Joy W Creech Interiors for years until my priorities changed with the birth of my first child. My goals were then mainly on caring for my family, managing my household, homeschooling my children, and assuring that all ran smooth. My most recent career choices have involved retail settings, marketing, sales, and customer service. Over the years, I have displayed dependability, hard work, trustworthiness, and tireless effort in every job setting big or small. I am eager to explore future job opportunities and challenges!
I conduct and coordinate demonstrations for Aidells Sausage in grocery stores throughout the Wilmington area. I work closely with the managers. meat dept managers, and employees to best serve their needs and try to introduce our products to the customers. In each store, I count inventory of products, stock coolers when necessary, and cook & prepare the foods. Generating sales in each store and making each customer happy is my goal! Records and bookkeeping are an important part of my job also.
I coordinate and conduct wine tastings in grocery stores throughout the Wilmington area. Sometimes, I do special events such as openings at new restaurants also. I work closely with sales reps, store managers, and employees to promote and introduce customers to different wines and generate sales. Meeting and interacting with customers is my favorite part of my job! Being self-employed, I also am responsible for all of my records and bookkeeping. I also restock shelves with our wine products and refill coolers to help maintain good appearance in wine departments of stores.
I was a substitute teacher with Johnston County School System in the Middle School and Elementary School level. Working with the children was the most rewarding part of my job! I stopped teaching with Johnston County Schools when I moved to Kure Beach in August 2010.
After graduating from Meredith College, I opened my own business in September 1986. I specialized in offering personalized Interior Design services to my clients for their new and existing homes, as well as commercial properties too. I offered a full range of window treatments, such as blinds and curtains, and I did the installation for these products myself. I also sold a full line of wallpaper, paint, carpet, and fabrics for upholstery and custom bedspreads. I offered services for installation on all of these products as well. In my business I personally handled all of the consultation work, design ideas, ordering, inventory, bookkeeping, ordering of materials, scheduling of jobs, and inspections of job progress. Ensuring customer satisfaction, quality work, and beautiful outcomes was my primary goal!
Upon entering Meredith College in my Sophomore year, I focused on my Interior Design degree. While there I also took many business classes. I graduated at the top of my class with a 3.825 GPA.
I entered North Carolina State University in the School of Design in Fall 1982 as a Freshman. I transferred to Meredith College after my sophomore year so that I could pursue my degree interests of Interior Design.
