I graduated the law enforcement academy in 2005 and immediately went to work for Goldsboro Police Department. I was promoted to crime scene investigator in 2008. While in this position I processed major crimes scenes including homicides. During the processing of the scenes I was responsible for locating all evidence and collecting it in a manner in which it could be used in court proceedings later. In 2010 I was transferred to the criminal investigations division where I was tasked with working crimes against the person. I investigated personally over 25 homicides while at the Goldsboro Police Department. While working these cases I had to interview witnesses and suspects all while keeping a clear mind as to the evidence. In 2012 I was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to a patrol shift where I supervised up to 15 officers on a daily basis. During this time I oversaw many traffic investigations and made sure that all crash reports were correct after they were turned in. In 2014 I was transferred back to the criminal investigations division as Sergeant over the division. As sergeant over the criminal investigations division I supervised up to 12 detectives and was in charge of all of their assigned cases. I reviewed reports everyday to determine the solve ability of the case and then would assign these cases based on that.
In 2016 I was asked by family to help out in the family business. I resigned from the police department and began working for the family business in September of 2016. While working at Robert Sutton Motors I wore many hats. On any given day I would secure financing for customers, purchase vehicles from an auction, and make sure that the vehicles we sell are ready to be sold. In this small business we have to have many job titles to make sure everything gets done. In July of 2018 I opened The Launching Pad which is an indoor batting cage in Goldsboro NC. I am co-owner in this business and we are projected to to turn a profit in our first year. Starting this business from the ground up has been a very gratifying and humbling experience. I have been able to work with many people in the community and we are providing a service to our youth that was greatly needed. This business is not my full time job and is something that my business partner and I run together with our staff.
In 2019 I left the family business and began a career in Adult Probation and Parole. I graduated from the Basic academy in December of 2019 and have been supervising offenders since January of 2020.
I am currently a certified Probation and Parole Officer in Wayne County NC. I supervise up to 85 offenders at any one time. This job requires me to be a law enforcement official, counselor, mentor, and social worker. I have been challenged in this job to help these offenders stay out of trouble and move on to live successful lives.
This is a family business that I grew up working in as young teen in high school. I was asked to come back and help out the family in 2016 and so I left the police department to join the family business. My duties included sales, purchases, customer service, finance, automotive repair, and debt collection. This is a small family operation so we are required to know every aspect of the business. I spent most of my time at auto auctions buying inventory for the car lot.
I also own a new business that I started with my business partner in November of 2018. It is called The Launching Pad and is located in Goldsboro NC.
