I have been a Police Officer for 33 years, graduating from the Summit County Sheriff's Academy in 1980.
I was originally employed by the Northampton Township Police Department in 1980, then on January 1st, 1986, the merger of the township and the City of Cuyahoga Falls occurred, and all of the officers from the township Police Department were now employees of the City.
In 1989, I was reassigned to our Detective Bureau, and remained there for 11 years.
I was promoted to Sergeant on 10/01/2001, returned to the Patrol Division for awhile, then was reassigned again to the Detective Bureau and remained there until my promotion to Lieutenant on 4/26/2004.
Once again I returned to the Patrol Division, this time in a new unit that I helped develop; Special Operations Unit (SOU)
The SOU combined the Community Oriented Policing Unit, Training, D.A.R.E., School Resource Officers, Bicycle Unit, Hostage Negotiators, and Grant Writing into a coordinated effort to combine officers with specialized skills under the direction of one Lieutenant, and 1 Sergeant.
I remained the SOU Commander until the unit's demise due to budgetary constraints
I was reassigned as a Patrol Shift Commander, having experience in running all 3 Patrol Shifts
I am currently the Patrol Division Day Shift Commander, and Police Jail Administrator.
I am responsible for the day to day Patrol Operations which includes supervision of three shift Sergeants, and sixteen officers.
As Jail Administrator, I oversee the training of our officers as required by statute, and am responsible for all Inmate services (security, supervision, surveillance, discipline, mental, physical, and emotional well being) as well as budgeting
