To whom it may concern,
As I finish my formal education, and receive my Baccalaureate's Degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, I am striving to obtain a position with the _______ Police Department that will provide me with optimal training and grant me the experience and knowledge I need to become a well trained police officer. I believe I represent the values critical to the department and can work graciously side by side with the community to empower the proper decisions and sound judgement an officer needs. I can promote the respect of each individual in the community, and act without fear to avoid incidence for the betterment and safety of the citizens I serve.
I know I would be the ideal candidate for this position and would go above and beyond what is expected of me, to understand the cultural and ethical values of the ________ Police Department. I can assist in a full time capacity and can offer tactical and procedural knowledge from my prior experiences. My professional training and development as a transportation specialist and junior NCO with the Army Reserve has provided me with tactical, leadership and service oriented knowledge and values. I have continued my military training through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. This has developed me into a leader of high expectations, molded my confidence and resilience to represent a tradition and cause bigger than myself. In August of 2021, after extensive training, I will commission as a 2nd Lieutenant into the US Army Reserves as a Military Engineer Officer. Aside from my military experience, I have worked alongside Quincy Police Department in the auxiliary capacity to gain experience in police culture and values; partaking in ride-a-longs, police trainings, and volunteer tasks. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to further continue my efforts in this career as a full-time officer and to utilize my knowledge and experience while learning from the leadership appointed over me.
I aspire to continue my training and gain as much experience as I can before I begin my duty. I welcome the opportunity to interview with you and thank you for your time. I am certain I can fulfill the requirements this position expects, and am willing to provide more information pertaining to myself upon your request. My resume and references are attached.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to meeting with you.
