* Provides direct patient care to neonates,
ranging from 23 weeks gestation to full
term, in a 37-bed level III neonatal
intensive care unit of a Magnet Institution.
* Collaborating with all other members of an interdisciplinary team to provide the
best
patient outcomes while acting as a patient advocate.
* Serving as teacher to our patients' families and as a hands on resource for
breastfeeding mothers.
* Contributing to the learning environment of a teaching hospital by frequently
precepting student nurses and facilitating learning with the residents.
* Active member of the units breastfeeding committee, striving to improve the care
we provide to our tiniest patient population.
* Charge RN role - responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the NICU during
a 12 hour shift.
* Triage and Transport nurse roles - able to assist and provide resuscitation
according to NRP standards during deliveries / code situations, and to safely
and transport to and from our institution.
* Trained in head cooling therapy for infants suffering hypo ischemic
encephalopathy
* Working on conventional and high frequency ventilators, intravenous
therapy, cardiac monitoring, blood works, interpreting and reporting
abnormal values to Neonatologist for medical management.
