PATIENT GREETER
Work History
Patient Greeter, 07/2020 to 11/2020Company Name - City, State
  • Planned and executed each guest / patient to whatever lactation in the entire hospital as they needed. - Covid-19 brought tons of new guidelines and regulations to every department individually. The patient service depart included: physically taking vitals, hand wrote results on each guest wrist band, each day they stayed in the hospital the color of the band changed so we kept up with reminding visitors that were not in the right color for that day. Some other explanations for that specific role include : keeping no more then 10 people through the hospital halls at a time and every one was to stay on red x'es to ensure everyone remained at a safe distance from one another, masks were provided to the ones who needed on ( they were required for everyone to where, and who ever refused to wear one were escorted out, we also were trained to learn and memorize the entire hospital layout, my favorite part was keeping in touch with the labor and delivery floor nurses because if a mommy arrived in labor, we would call for the nurses to prep. The greeters would escort the mother to where she needed to be. The type of phone that was operated was a piedmont hospital phone and my number was linked to the greeter services department, we stayed tuned and professional this whole period. We operated the same work phone to call patient nurses or patient floors if there was an active delivery. Using the "hospital work phone" required knowledge of an extension sheet. This extension sheet was the bible to the greeter station phone. Every room in the hospital had a specific extension (piedmont is a huge hospital, so it got tricky when they began a remodel during and continuing through Covid- 19. In addition to knowing how to use the extension sheet, when you found the proper extension there was a specific digit that needed to be dropped before dialing it. You really had to be trained properly to function and maintain your station properly. The delivers required greeters to greet the driver and gather room, date, patient name, and visitor dropping off. We were always responsible for refilling our carts and stations before and after our shift, 15 minutes prior to opening and closing station down completely.
  • Greeters used the piedmont computer, to log onto an industrial application called epic. We use this app to look up patient files and information, as long as they were on the information release document and were able to send or email a picture of ID .
