Leadership - I am organized and able to self-manage. I was solo in a position meant for two employees for most of the last four years as a financial counselor.Â
- I restructured the Missoula Bone & Joint financial counselor position by updatinga paperless system, policies and procedures, creating documents and a handbook for the post.
- As a PAS for Community Medical Center, I was often the first face seen at the ER. I provided each person with respect, kindness, and proficient knowledge of my abilities at the hospital.
- I helped staff troubleshoot issues that came up after hours with the hospital's admit software.
- As an animal behaviorist at the Humane Society of Western Montana, I managed the volunteer animal training program. This program guided shelter staff and interested volunteers in identifying and appropriately modifying or addressing individual animals' behavior and training needs.Â
Sales - Missoula Bone & Joint: Created a customized estimate for patients having surgery, advanced imagining, pain injections, and upon request for other services.Â
- Discussed estimates with patients, broke down individual costs, collected or made arrangements to pay deposits toward their future services.
- Community Medical Center:I located insurance copays, discussed discount options available, collected copays, and explained the hospital's billing process.
| - Humane Society of Western Montana: I explained and sold merchandise, training tools, and training classes.
Communication - Communication is vital as a Financial Counselor for Missoula Bone & Joint. I have to have tough conversations about the cost of elective procedures at the Missoula Bone & Joint. These are conversations where the patient has to choose health or money and can be very emotional for the patient sometimes.
- I tried to find as many solutions for patients to get the medical care they need without considering a significant debt.
- I believe I can remain professional, calm, and empathetic in stressful situations.
- I confirmed patient demographics and billing information at CMC ER and provided detailed explanations of patient rights and responsibilities, the billing process, and any other information requested.
- As an animal behaviorist, I was responsible for the Humane Society of Western Montana's Behavior Helpline, a free public service to solve common pet behavior problems and reduce and surrenders.
- I taught volunteer orientation classes and dog-walking classes.Â
- I taught a monthly course at the YWCA for the Pet Advocacy program that trained volunteers to shelter animals belonging to families leaving abusive situations.
- I was responsible for scheduling and running off site promotional events.
