PART OF MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT
Professional Summary
I apply these principles in my writing and when teaching writing skills to students at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Curriculum innovation I have initiated Kamuzu College of Nursing I have initiated the establishing of an Academic Resource/Learning Center, initially to be housed in the Basic Studies Department. However, due to challenges of funding and the growing post graduate programmes, KCN management suggested that it should be part of the post graduate programmes. This centre is where all students will access all the necessary skills to facilitate their obtaining the qualifications. For instance, specific writing skills, study skills and any special skill needed will be facilitated by the centre. Owing to numbers and the rate at which Kamuzu College is growing, it has become a challenge to impart these skills in the time allocated to each programme. Besides, in accordance with the principles of adult learning (Andragogy), each post graduate student would have their own specific academic need which may be different from the need of the others, and so make it difficult to be addressed in a group, but would be effective individually. This would be the first centre of its type in the history UNIMA, to the best of my knowledge.

  • 2005-2006 Dean of Students Kamuzu College of Nursing 2004-2006 Adjunct Lecturer Malawi College of Health Sciences 2009-2012 University Council Member, Lay Representative Adventist University Ntcheu 2004-June 2013 Present Lecturer Senior Lecturer Kamuzu College of Nursing Lilongwe My Masters Degree studies were funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and my PhD research was funded by The Australian International Development Assistance Bureau (AIDAB), both through the Malawi Government.
  • PhD Thesis: The Australian Corporate Annual Report: Some Factors Contributing To Low Readability Scores Audited the following courses: Understanding and Interpreting the Corporate Annual Report Summary of Relevance of my PhD to Writing Skills My PhD focused on the private sector.
  • There is no denying that for any economy to be resuscitated, business, especially in the private sector, has to be revived.
  • The PhD focused on corporate annual reports of the firms on the Stock Exchange.
  • The principles of effective writing revealed in the thesis are the ones applied in the teaching of writing skills to produce academic, professional and literary works so that these achieve effective communication.
  • My PhD thesis focuses on written factors which impact on low readability or incomprehension of financial reports among shareholders of international firms on the stock exchange.
  • It contends that, because communication in annual reports is not clear, this causes the inevitable communication breakdown between shareholders on one hand and managers of firms, on the other.
  • Using the principles of effective writing employed by Classical Rhetoricians, like Quintilian, Cicero, Aristotle, among others, the thesis examines the anomaly between the primary purpose of annual reports (of communicating firm performance to owners) and the effect.
  • Specifically, it examines why, ironically, shareholders, globally, cannot tell from the annual cooperate reports that their firms are performing badly, making huge losses, yet the primary purpose of the annual reports is to communicate such information.
  • If this information was available to the shareholders, the probability is that they would intervene and withdraw their shares before the firms collapse.
  • They would then reinvest their shares where they would be profitable.
  • The thesis further offers improvements for sound reporting to improve readability, which is relevant for business efficiency in the current economic global setting.
