I grew up in an agricultural family, and after finishing college, I continued working in agriculture until 1995. During this time, I built a successful company that recycled edible food waste into animal feed. In this business, I managed and operated all types of heavy equipment and machinery. I sold this business to a competing enterprise.
In the following years, I purchased and operated our hometown newspaper with my wife and I serving as co-publishers. While owning the newspaper, I also built and operated a big-game hunting ranch with 450 acres under high fence. Eight years ago, I purchased one car wash and a year later, I built another. I currently still own the car washes.
My wife and I have now entered into a new chapter in our lives and have made Steamboat Springs our permanent home. My wife has taken the job as editor of the Steamboat Today, and I am anxious to begin working in a new field.
I work well with others. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to employ over 200 people, and my productivity and employee retention is excellent.
Purchased one stand alone car wash in 2006 and in 2007 built from ground up a new state-of-the-art car wash in prime location. Personally service and repair all equipment. Manage employees, maintain inventory, payroll and financial records.
My responsibilities included overseeing staff of 24 employees. Increased revenue 35% over 3 year period. Implemented many cost saving changes including improved computer software, printing logistics and streamlined staffing.
Constructed nine-foot high fence around 450 acres of rolling Ozark hills. Remodeled old homestead into guest lodge. Stocked ranch with elk, deer, wild boar. Marketed and hosted ranch for the purpose of big game hunting. Sold ranch in 2005, and it is currently still in operation.
