Seeking a position as a Mechanical Engineer, allowing me to utilize my design, analytical and problem solving skills while gaining valuable experience in a team orientated environment. Specialized in design and solid mechanics.
1. Split Hopkinson Bar (Graduate thesis)[Impact testing at high strain rates]: Working on the design and fabrication of a Split Hopkinson bar. This apparatus will allow us to test the dynamic stress strain response of materials. The apparatus has been modeled on Solid Works and fabricated in the machine shop. This project involves simulation of the whole model using Abaqus. This whole set up is designed and modeled based on the assumption of one- dimensional stress wave propagation. This is a self manufactured set up. This impact testing is done at a very high strain rate from 100 - 10000 /s. Control systems (Arduino) were programmed for valve control. Data Acquisition will be done by collecting the data using strain gage using Lab View, Oscilloscope and amplifiers.
2. Torque characteristics of Magneto-rheological fluids: This project involved the fabrication of a self-designed coupler which used MR fluids for transmission. MR fluids are smart fluids which can change their state from liquids to pseudo-solids on application of a magnetics field. MR fluids of different composition were prepared in the lab. A coupler was designed with rotating shafts which involved the use of CATIA and ANSYS, while the fabrication involved welding, lathe, drilling, milling and grinding machines. With the use of multimeter, tachometer and input rotation set up, the output torque characteristics were studied. A paper on the same was presented in the AIM National Conference 2011.
3. Design and fabrication of Deep Cold Rolling Tool: A DCR tool is a finishing tool which gives a smooth finish without material removal and increases the life by reducing the residual stress on the components machined. Was designed, developed and the parameters were tested on a specimen. It was a 1 year long project. It involved the usage of CATIA and ANSYS for modelling and analysis. Drilling machine, lathe, welding, shaper and grinder with the help of other tools were used for machining the DCR tool. The parameters which affected the tool finishing were tested on a self-fabricated specimen.
Worked as an intern in Maruti Suzuki in the assembly line. Trained in a unique line balancing technique called Maynard Operation Sequencing Technique (MOST). It is a predetermined motion time system to set a standard time in which a worker should finish his work. Every work is divided into small motion which have a time numerical value called time measurement unit (TMU)assigned to them. Comparing the actual time of the work, which is done by comparing video-recording to the TMU, the work of a particular worker is optimized.
