In 2002, one of twenty German students to receive the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship to spend a summer in Russia studying cultural and business practices. Spent time in Moscow and Siberia. Took classes in Russian language and economics at the University of Tomsk. Visited factories and large businesses, including Gazprom.
In 2003 wrote and published thesis "Survival Strategies of East German Companies in a Competitive Market after Reunification." Thesis is available for purchase on Amazon and other sites.
