Extensive background working with expectant parents and parents of children birth through 18 years old. Beginning with a job in outdoor education. Working with youth on probation and later moved into residential setting 14 years ago at The Opportunity Alliance. Moving into a position at Young Parent program with with homeless youth parents which merged the early childhood education and social work degrees. Eventually moving from the residential setting at YPP and joining the Maine Families staff where I have remained for the past 10 years. Maine Families is a universal program for all parents that are expecting or have newborn. Maine Families works with families until child's third birthday. As a family visitor focusing on my work with families experiencing SUD, mental health challenges, trauma experienced through journey to seek asylum and homelessness.

  • Handle all the referral that are sent to Maine Families Cumberland County for the past 4 1/2 years.
  • Create and organized system to track all our referrals. We receive about 700 referrals a year. Maintaining a waitlist of 60-80 families at all times.
  • Call and assess the needs of every new referral, making sure they also got call from PHN, have WIC and other servies in community. If they don't I make referrals when needed.
  • Collaborate with PHN, CDC, Preble Street Teen Center, DHHS, MMC and other community partners.
  • Attend community meetings
  • Assign Families Visitors new families
  • Supervise 3-4 Family Visitors using reflective supervision
  • Continue to have a small caseload of 10-12 families most of which are in recovery, have mental health challenges, are asylum seekers or have experienced lose and trauma.

  • Carried a case load of at least 15 families at all times, completed minimum of 325 visits a year in various setting through out the community including in homes, parks, shelters, hospitals and jails.
  • Work with families from all over the world including both Asylum seekers and refugees.

  • Work with parents with SUD, mental health challenges, cognitive challenges, families experiencing homelessness, DHHS involvement and DOC involvement.
