Dear Mrs. Mary Scott,
I am very interested in the bilingual parent educator and home visitor position. I believe that I will bring many skills to this position because I am hard working and passionate about helping others. I would like to tell you what I can offer to this position.
While I was in college, I took five classes in Spanish and went on two mission trips to Guatemala. These trips strengthened my Spanish speaking ability, but also opened my eyes and heart to a beautiful country and people. The purpose of the trips to Guatemala was to provide scholarships to students in order to continue pursuing higher education. We also talked to mothers about the health of their children and developmental milestones.
After this experience I continued to work with the Hispanic community by assisting with translation of forms for school, medical, and other activities. I also accompanied the families to appointments to assist with translating and be supportive.
I have a passion and a strong will to assist families and parents with developmental education. My son and is developmentally delayed and I appreciated all if the support and education that I received because I would be lost without it. This is why I am compassionate about working with the Hispanic community in order to provide support, education, and hope. I believe that this is my way of giving encouragement to others.
I have a bachelors degree in Cultural Anthropology and I am fluent in Spanish. I have eight years experience in education in the school system.
