Responsibilities and duties to include:
*the overall responsibilities of juvenile detention operations, ensures that juvenile detention facility operations are functioning and staff are knowledgeable of and utilizes the juvenile detention policy and procedures manual
*assures all staff are properly trained
*assists the Administrative Officer in his/her administrative duties as pertain to the Juvenile Detention Center
Duties included but are not limited to:
*Maintains the general security of the Juvenile Detention Division utilizing such personnel and resources available, planning and directing activities such as shakedowns and juvenile movement, and assigns work through the Lead Juvenile Officers.
*Inspects the facility on a regular basis to determine its security status.
*Assists the Chief of Detention in her/his inspection of the facility.
*Ensures that needed repairs and maintenance to the facility security systems are promptly made.
*Reviews the classification of juveniles.
*Reviews, develops, and implements juvenile detention facility documents and manuals.
*Assures staff have a thorough knowledge of the facility documents and manual associated with their duties.
*Recommends appropriate disciplinary action of employees with the approval of the Chief of Detention.
*Collects and presents data pertaining to the juvenile detention center and presents data to the Chief of Detention.
*Assists the Chief of Detention and the Administrative Officer in the preparation of the annual budget, maintains records pertaining to payroll, time records, billing and other records as required.
*Works in cooperations with the Chief of Detention and may resume duties in his/her absence.

Performs all tasks of admitting and releasing juvenile inmates. Responsible for the security and safety of all persons and staff entering the Juvenile Detention area. Responsibility for monitoring all cells and living areas. Make initial medical assessment and classifications. Decide if the juvenile inmate needs emergency medical attention, whether juvenile inmates may be released to a parent/guardian, or if the juvenile inmate will be housed in the facility and where (Class C offenses only). Performs various clerical duties. Carries out the booking process, including proper identifications of incoming inmates and ensures proper hygiene is maintained while in the facility. Responsible for the safety and security of juvenile inmates at all times. Performs duties in accordance with the facility Juvenile Policy and Procedures Manual.

*Observe and record mental and physical health of each juvenile offender.
*Transport juvenile inmates to and from court hearings, medical facilities, classes or recreational activities.
*Make rounds at specified intervals and conducted head counts.
*Supervised juvenile inmates daily, including during mealtime and recreational time.
*Book new juvenile inmates into facility and process juvenile inmates for release.
*Escorted inmates to and from cells, court, hospitals, and medical appointments.
*Completed cell sanitation and maintenance checks and reported results to facilities.
*Maintained custody and control of juvenile inmates housed in the juvenile detention facility.
*Arranged for medical and dental care of inmates.
*Created and maintained arrest files on all juvenile inmates processed through the facility.
*Made rounds at specified intervals and conducted head counts and roll calls.
