I am a ambitious Graduate student that just received my Master Degree in Environmental Science and Management with a concentration in Fishery and Wildlife Conservation that is eager to contribute developed knowledge in a Environmental Science role. Skilled in Environmental Science practices and policies. Adaptable and driven with strong work ethic and ability to thrive in team-based or individually motivated settings.
My name is Michael B. Anthony Thirty-Eight years old and I am currently working as a JV football coach and PE teacher here at a local private school in central Alabama. I have really enjoyed my time here at APUS and received my Bachelor's in Sports and Health Sciences, concentration in coaching before starting on this journey to obtain my Master degree in Environmental Science and Management with a concentration in Fishery and Wildlife Conservation.
This year will be my last year coaching and teaching and upon the completion of my Masters program at American Public University I will be One Hundred percent dedicated to pursuing my passion in Environmental Science and Management. American Public University prepared me to pursue my passion and a career field path that evolves around Environmental Conservationist, either lake or marine fishery oriented. I love the outdoors, my true passion is sport fishing and marine conservation with the full attention of working and implementing the tools gave to me by American Public University to bring my state waterways back to their prestige of the past. I spend most my free time fishing tournaments and volunteering for different environmental efforts on the lakes of the Coosa River Valley Chain.
I started really early in life as a mentor and coach, coaching my Brothers city baseball teams, even though I was only four years older than him. I have a passion for helping others, especially young men and women that like me did not have many people in their lives they could count on. Coaching my Brothers teams for nearly Seven years instilled in me not only a love for sports, but a passion for helping others achieve a better life. I coached throughout my High School years even though I was playing sports simultaneously for my school and I loved every minute of all it. I quickly found that passion for something greater than myself through my Brothers sports, which led me down a road to me obtaining my Bachelors degree in Sports and Health Sciences.
I have been teaching, mentoring and coaching young minds professionally from the first day I decided to get my degree, around twenty years in all and it all started with a small tee ball team my Brother was on. Mentoring has always been in blood and is a passion for me, through the my service in the Army I was able to learn that there are different forms of mentoring and sometimes it's best to lead by example. I was Platoon Leader for my squad in my company for almost five years and through this leadership role I leaned valuable life lessons in core leadership skills, mentoring skills, delegation skills and empathy. In order to mentor you have to live to the set standards and values you hold the ones you mentor too, you can not set standards for others and not live by these standards yourself. That is why I teach and hold people to a higher standard of moral and ethical values, because I hold my self to those standards on a daily basis.
I would love to work here on the Alabama Coosa River Chain expanding conservation efforts as a whole for the waterway system, as the Coosa River Chain is top in the country, in aspects to Bio-diversity of species. The problem is not only does the river chain rank highest in the US for Bio-diversity and Endemic species, but the river chain is also in the top percentile of endangered species not a good mix. Conservation and preservation of marine environmental species is my true passion and I intend to work and build connections that will allow me to better Alabama waterways. Alabama does not have a water management program Federally and I am working through my passion to obtain Alabama some sort of environmental water management program.
