As an assistant to the Directors, I performed many various duties to help ensure a productive and reputable Funeral Home business. My duties included, but were not limited to: Greeting visitors and family members to the Home; answered the main phone lines and directed calls accordingly; scheduled appointments, data entry, faxing, filing, record logs of funerals completed, applied for the proper permits necessary by law to conduct viewings and funerals; notified Social Security of deaths as mandated by law; maintained a clean and neat environment and ordered supplies as needed; prepared chapels for viewings by ensuring the rooms were clean and orderly; displayed floral arrangements and sprays; assisted Directors, when necessary, with moving caskets; answered any questions visitors/family may have had, to the best of my ability. Sold funeral-related merchandise in the Home such as: urns, vestments, rosary beads, Bibles, photo frames, and jewelry. Received and distributed cash, check donations to their proper charities; ensured urns and boxes with cremains were given to the correct family members by asking for and photocopying their identification before handing over the cremains; taking messages, and other various duties.
