Dear Hiring Manager, It is with much interest that I write to you in regards to the Medical Laboratory Scientist position as posted on the Mayo Clinic website. This position aligns well with my goal of continuing my career in the laboratory field and coming back to an area I enjoy so much. Previously I was employed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the high-volume microbiology department at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. Working there has helped me become highly organized and very good at multi-tasking, so all tasks can be completed in a timely manner. Since leaving there in August I have been working as a substitute teacher in the Bismarck Public Schools system in North Dakota where I am originally from. I have enjoyed the experience of a new field of work, but looking forward to getting back into the Clinical Lab Science field. Taking great pride in professional performance and striving to give the patients the very best healthcare is the main focus for all my shifts. The majority of my duties include processing a variety of biological specimens while maintaining patient confidentiality, and communicating results with doctors and nurses. Also, I microscopically examine slides including Gram, calcofluor white, India ink, and acid fast stains, and use molecular testing techniques on patient blood specimens; while focusing on communicating with others in my team to improve workflow and increase test turn-around-time. With having been on night shift for 2.5 years my experience has helped in the training of newer employees on more efficient techniques. I participate in quality control of laboratory reagents and equipment, and help prepare the laboratory for various inspections. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue my career working in the laboratory. My knowledge, laboratory experience, and communication skills will be well matched to your company. You can contact me at 701-290-2541 or firstname.lastname@example.org for any further questions. I look forward to an opportunity to interview with you for the medical laboratory scientist position. Sincerely, Elizabeth Moormann
