Work History
Hardware store associate, 05/2014 to Current
Akrs EquipmentGeneva, ,
When I first started working at Ace Hardware I performed renovations to the building including removing outdated vinyl tile and carpet, wet buffing concrete floor, and various electrical repairs. For the latter part of my job, I have run the business assisting customers with their projects and checking them out at the register, restocking inventory, and keeping all computer systems in working order. Also, I have driven the delivery truck carrying furniture and various appliances to customer's homes and installing them as required.
Small Engine Mechanic, 04/2012 to Current
Self EmployedCity, ,
During the summer months, I run my own small engine repair shop from my home. Customers bring me their lawnmowers that are not running correctly and I diagnose the issue and offer repair options. Machines vary from ATVs, riding mowers, push mowers, and 2-cycle engines. Repair types I could perform included carburetor rebuilds, complete engine rebuilds including cylinder honing with piston ring replacements, gasket overhauls, compression testing, valve gap set, transmission rebuild, and complete electrical assessment. All work is brought to manufacturing specifications by use of proper technical manuals.
Education
High School Diploma: , Expected in 2016
Van Dorn Academy - Port Gibson,
GPA:
Prior to attending HCC, I was homeschooled from K1 through high school. I have now completed my first semester here at HCC with a GPA of 3.85 and am continuing my education preparing myself for my career goal as a mechanical engineer.
Community Service
For the last three years, I have offered my service to the Vicksburg Center For Pregnancy Choices in serving food during their annual formal dinner fundraiser. I have accumulated 15+ hours of community service from these events alone. I have also offered my help in my church's annual VBS for the last seven years in assisting children or setting up sound and light systems.
Leadership
In my job at the hardware, I have been placed in a position of leadership over my fellow employees while my boss is out of the office. My responsibilities include store opening procedures, taking inventory, making sure customers are assisted properly, and finally store closing protocol.
