Currently, I am the Front-End Supervisor at The Home Depot. I have been in the retail industry for over six years, and through extensive research, I have recently decided to pursue a career in the Engineering industry. I am a hard-working, dedicated student, looking to apply my work ethic, management skills, and proficiency in mathematics and science to an entry level position that will allow me to gain hands on experience in the engineering industry.
My GPA has been above 3.7 for the past year, and I currently have a cumulative GPA of 3.5. At work, I have consistently been recognized in my store as well as throughout the district in every role I've been in for outstanding performance. I have received multiple awards including the associate of the month award, excellence award, and platinum award.
In my position I am entrusted with several responsibilities such as: Leading and developing head cashiers, cashiers and lot associates. Driving customer service, promotions, recoveries (asset protection), and new credit accounts. Handling customer escalations, monitoring customer flow on the front-end, positive reinforcement, team development, and coaching. I also write a weekly plan on how to minimize and mitigate shrink and write and deliver quarterly reviews. I work closely with the Operations Assistant Manager.
As the Front End Supervisor, I have to maintain a high level of organization and professionalism. Under my leadership, my Front-End team has been consistently in the top 3 for credit performance in the district every week, and we are currently #3 for the year. I have received two Bronze, two Silver, two Gold, and 1 Platinum award, which are all based on going above and beyond in performance. #3 in the district for the Front-End Gold Cup event.
As the Electrical Department Supervisor (10/29/2012 - 03/08/2013) I always did my best to meet and exceed the expectations of my superiors. I was in charge of the general operations, and merchandising in the department, being a role model for excellent customer service, ordering, and developing/training my associates. I also spent a lot of time designing and building my own product displays for top-selling items, and our store is #1 in sales for many of those items still today.
As a Head Cashier (03/2012 - 10/29/2012) I was held to many of the same daily responsibilities as I currently am as the Front-End Supervisor, but I was only in charge of leading and developing a team of 6 cashiers. I would conduct monthly observations, secret shops, and coaching. I proved my leadership abilities to the Front End Supervisor at the time very quickly by leading the team to exceed desired results and completing tasks that were assigned to her without being asked to do so.
In the time I spent as the Lead Generator/Millworks Specialist (10/2010 - 03/2012) I was responsible for qualifying customers and generating leads for professional install services provided by The Home Depot such as: HVAC, windows, roofing, water heaters, fencing, etc. I was also responsible for training sales floor associates to duplicate this behavior as to amplify results around the store. While in this position, I increased leads for install services by 200% - 1000% to goal every week by implementing new strategies and training associates. This opportunity came to me because of my performance as a Cashier (10/2009 - 10/2010). Along with all of the other basic duties as a cashier, I was #1 in the district for opening new credit accounts.
For the past three years, I have been pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. When I decided to change my major to Pre-Engineering, I lost thirty-nine credits. I have applied those credits to an Associate of Science degree in University Studies, which is now complete. I will graduate from Utah Valley University with an Associate of Science degree in University Studies, and an Associate of Pre-Engineering degree, with an emphasis in Civil/Mechanical Engineering, in the Spring of 2015. I have also organized a plan that will allow me to transfer up to the University of Utah, and graduate with my Master of Engineering degree in 2019.
The courses that I have completed are as follows:
