Currently, I have been working at Golds Gym on 8935 TX-151, San Antonio, TX 78251, since July of 2018 to the current date. I work as a front desk associate lead. If my GM and AGM are not available, I would be the one who will assist the member in anything that they need, such as, greeting members and guest and engaging in pleasant conversations and providing assistant with members when they had issues with their membership, such as taking their payments, cancellations, membership freezes, setting them up for personal training session or classes they want to attend. Some of my other duties would be answering calls and took reservations over the phone, managing purchasing of Gold's Gym merchandise, helping members to check in and out of the facility.
I have even help out with signing up new members through their insurance such as Silver Sneakers and Active & Fit Programs. I also help maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk area and gym hourly.
Most recently, prior to the Pandemic, I was hired to be a permanent substitute for a special education Life Skills Unit at Lytle Elementary.
I would help create and instruct lesson plans for students with severe cognitive disabilities and collaborate with the special education/ life skills teacher to come up with the best accommodations for those students. I would also assist them to their general education classrooms and do inclusion work with them to help them better understand the content that the general education teacher is teaching but at their own pace. Also as a permanent substitute teacher I would also assisted all the students I worked with to develop life-long learning skills and good study habits; while also at the same time keeping the students on-task with proactive behavior modifications and positive reinforcement strategies.
I worked with general education children at the primary and elementary level. However, the children I would work with the most were the special education students that ranged from having mental disabilities to learning disabilities. Working with children, especially those who struggle to fit in is a very fulfilling job for me. As a young child myself I struggled with sever dyslexia and for a while thought I wasn't good enough. Fortunately for me, throughout my journey through education I had amazing teachers and coached that helped me see the potential in me, that I was smart and strong. At the end I graduated top 12% of my high school class and because a well know athlete and became a state winner in the sport of power lifting. This is what ultimately inspired me to work this job because I want to be a hero for those children like me and have them always know someone is their for them and believes in them.
While I was working at Dicks Sporting Goods I was a Sales a associate for many departments such as apparel, team sports, and fitness; but for the most part I was a sales associate for fitness apparel. I would help out customers find anything they are looking for and would give them the best customer service. I would also be in charge of keeping whatever department I was in clean and would even help out my fellow coworkers with their departments if they were getting very busy with customers. Overtime I became one of the lead apparel associates and would help train new apparel sales associates how to work in the department, how to interact with customers, and how to clean up when it came time to close the store. Another position I did while working this job was being a cashier. I would help checkout customers as quickly and promptly as possible and would also help them sign up for Dick Sporting Goods Score Cards, D.S.G Credit Cards, and hunting and fishing licenses. Also overtime I would be a cashier that would help train newcomer cashiers on how to use the cashier, how to make online orders, how to sign customers up with our rewards card, credit cards, and hunting and fishing licenses, and just how to interact with them.
