My duties as a squad leader increased dramatically as I was responsible for the health, welfare, and training of twelve Soldiers. My garrison duties included: Patrol Supervisor. As patrol supervisor I ensured all missions and subsequent documentation was done accurately and correctly. While deployed, I was in charge of my squad and it's assigned mission, this included the lives of my soldiers as well as the equipment entrusted to me. I also served as the Operations SGT to the NCO Academy for Military Police (Senior Leader Course). My responsibilities included class scheduling, trainer coursework preparation, academy documentation and organization and core event planning.

As a team leader, I was responsible for the two Soldiers and all of the equipment assigned to my team. It was my responsibility to ensure that my team was adequately trained and competent in their duties as a Military Police Officer. While deployed, I was responsible for my team and their conduct, consisting of a driver and a gunner. This position of leadership required an extensive knowledge of the Army Regulations, Field Manuals, Technical Manuals and vehicle maintenance standards.

As a new Military Police Officer I was responsible for my personal physical fitness and professional experience. Much of my time was spent learning the Army Regulations and Standards as well as the Military Police Doctrine. On a daily basis I would patrol my assigned area, conduct traffic stops, DUI/Seatbelt Checkpoints, and respond to calls, such as: minor traffic violations, domestic violence and aggravated assault. I was responsible for the safety of the community I was assigned, and the equipment the Army provided me.
