Job included installation, handling, and storage of fine art
I frequently worked on crews that went to fine art museums and galleries in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro areas and I installed, delivered, or received fine art.
Drove large climate controlled box trucks to various metro job sites.
Often I would assist with specialized packing or crating of fine art works (usually paintings or sculpture) to be stored in our warehouse or for farther transit.
Often would work in an art storage warehouse organizing paintings and sculptures for customers.
Job required proper forklift and scissor lift training.
A knowledge of general hand tools and power tools was a must.
Often lifted 50 lbs. or more. Well trained using manual pallet jacks, dollies, and a j-bar for large crates weighing several hundred pounds.
This job's duties varied from day to day. Often I would be on a crew that loaded, delivered, and installed incredibly expensive pieces of fine art to well known museums and galleries in the DFW area. If not doing those high stress tasks I would be working in 1 of 2 storage facilities doing daily activities.
Often our jobs offsite (museums and galleries) would last well past business hours so I often had plenty of overtime.
Never missed a day in the time I worked there. (10 mo.)
Written documentation on Bills of Ladings were very important.
Was considering getting a CDL class B through this company but we decided to move to Oklahoma and I declined to.
Left on great terms with co-workers and office staff.

Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter.
Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as handtruck, conveyor, or sorting bins.

Although I had worked here for only a year and a half I moved up the chain rapidly.
Started out picking single orders on shelves and dropped into bins on a conveyor belt on the night shift.
Then moved to picking full boxes to be shipped on wooden pallets.
Was then certified to handle all pharmaceuticals and narcotics and worked inside a security cage with others picking orders for pharmacies.
On day shift my main duties involved stocking shelves for the night shift.
Was also chosen to train new workers in a facility out of state.
I used a motorized cart daily, operated pallet jacks, hand affixed computers, and plenty of walking and heavy lifting.
Then my final job was a specialized shipping position in which I prepared products to be air shipped to customers.
Decided to go back to school but left the company on great terms.

Education and Training
May 2016University of Dallas, Irving, TXEven before I got my BFA from OU I was accepted for a full scholarship to pursue an art degree at the University of Dallas in Irving, Tx. I moved to Dallas with my fiancee and her two children. During my time @ UD I was required to have two one-man shows. The first one was on campus and the second was off campus at a gallery in Dallas. My artistic concentration was/is contemporary sculpture so I'm very familiar with wood shop machines as well as a metal shop. My skills in these areas increased going through grad school. I received two degrees. An M.A. (Master of Arts) and then the M.F.A. (Master of Fine Arts) which both give me the certification to teach art at the college level.
May 2013Oklahoma University, Norman, OKI transferred in to OU with an Associates of Art degree from Oklahoma Community College in south OKC. I decided to concentrate on sculpture and painting but primarily contemporary sculpture. This led me to a wealth of experience welding, working with wood machines and various hand tools. As a very creative person to begin with I also had painting and printmaking classes that I excelled in. Before I graduated I was accepted into Graduate school in Texas.
Dec 2009Oklahoma City Community College, Oklahoma City, OKI got the opportunity to go back to school at a later age and was unsure of what degree I wanted. I always enjoyed art and drawing so I decided to pursue art. I received an Associates of Art degree in 2009.

In the last several years I've been concentrating on art degree(s) and making art. I've used some of that knowledge at my last job in Arlington, Texas. Before then I was focused on school and didn't work for almost 10 years. I've worked at high security facilities and maintained proper certifications for my employment. Achieving my Masters degree required a great amount of focus, commitment, and creativity. I not only had to make art but I also had to intellectually verbalize and write about it as well. I've worked in warehouses, greenhouses, kitchens, and been a salesman. I've been in high stress situations often, handled incredibly expensive items, worked on my own and worked with large crews. I'm very honest, diligent, and hate missing work. I follow directions well but am not afraid to ask questions or suggest something different. I would be an asset to an organization.
