FFS provides authoritative advice, consultation and technical assistance to care provider programs, Department of Children Services-Contracted Case Coordinators and Department of Homeland Security juvenile coordinators and other DHS officials for the implementation and coordination of the national Unaccompanied Children program.
Coordinates reunification of UC (Unaccompanied Child):
Oversees the safe and expeditious reunification of a UC based on the Flores Settlement Agreement and Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 (TVPRA), release criteria, security and risk assessment, coordination of DHS transportation, identity and travel documents for voluntary returns and removals.
Serves as DCS Field Expert on Child Welfare Issues
Acts as DCS expert on child welfare and UC issues and is the primary point of contact for DCS Case Coordinators, care provider staff, DHS field juvenile coordinators and foreign country consular offices in the field.
Provides technical assistance on DCS policies and procedures.
FFS liaises and meets with private, non-profit, non-governmental organizations, local officials, health care providers and UC's legal representatives.
