I have an in-depth knowledge of the probate process. I will bring to the Register's position 35 years of experience. I worked at the Register of Wills office in Montgomery County for over 19 years, and I was the Chief Auditor for many of those years. For the past 15 years I have been working as a Trust & Estate paralegal.
As Frederick County Register of Wills, I will work hard to bring a new standard of care, compassion and personal service to this office to better serve all Frederick County citizens. I am a perfect match for this position. I have broad, comprehensive experience and an in-depth knowledge of the probate process as well as experience in applying probate, civil, fiduciary and trust laws, rules and procedures, the Maryland Code and pertinent case law. I am well prepared for the responsibilities of the office.
Duties include filing the Will; determining assets; obtaining a tax identification number; drafting tax returns, inventories, accounts, petitions and pleadings; drafting affidavits, statements, schedules, settlements, orders, tax returns and petitions; and maintaining estate records, bank accounts and investments.
Assist clients with securing valuable property; prepare and file probate documents with the Register of Wills; collect and transfer assets; locate the will, codicils and other related documents; correspond with banks, businesses, insurance companies, brokerage firms, employers, accountants, and others to collect asset information and other pertinent information; apply for employer identification numbers; prepare and file claims for insurance proceeds and death benefits; and maintain estate records, bank accounts and investments.
