As a Detention Officer I perform a variety of dutes. Some of those dutes are: Follow daily routine schedule and take head counts of all inmates in assigned cell block, escort inmates to clinic, court and other programs/visitors, perform searches of people, mail items and Pods/Cells, fingerprint and photograph incoming and released inmates as apart of the booking process, conduct inmate and detention facility visual surveillance to identify and report violations of rules, exercise independent and sound judgment in enforcing proper inmate behavior and responding to incidents, subdue and restrain resisting inmates using hands and feet while employing defensive tactics and approved non-lethal weapons, interview victims, witnesses and suspects to gather and record information for ongoing and future investigations or rule enforcement, perform basic first aid procedures and cardiopulmonary resuscitation on unconscious inmates and officers, supervise inmates during day-to-day activities.
