Nursing student at Chamberlain College of Nursing with over 400 hours to date of clinical experience as a nursing student as well as 2 years of direct patient care experience as an Emergency Department (ED) Technician at Childrenās Healthcare of Atlanta. I expect to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in August 2021. In both my nursing school clinical experiences and my work as an ED Technician, I have provided compassionate and reliable emergency care to a diverse group of patients. My experience in the emergency department has provided me with opportunities to care for patients and families across a wide spectrum of diversity to meet their unique needs involving a variety of physical, psychological, emotional, and cultural variations while managing dynamic conditions, establishing and engaging in trustworthy rapport with patients and families, and collaborating with nurses and physicians to provide the highest quality of care. Full time nanny for 2 girls within the ages of 4-10. My job responsibilities included management of varying daily after-school schedules for each child, such as getting them to and from after school activities, assisting with homework each night and managing various household duties. Throughout this experience, I gained experience involving skills to promote time management, accountability, and planning, while also providing a nurturing, safe environment to promote emotional, social and intellectual growth.
Worked alongside Jessica May, Occupational Therapist, gaining insight of her individual roles and responsibilities to initiate specifically tailored planning to individual students. I was able to experience the facilitation of learning and communication geared towards children with dyslexia to facilitate independent performance of occupational tasks and activities of daily living.
Safely and effectively taught life saving skills, basic swimming lessons, and advanced swimming skills to children ranging in age from 2 years old to 15 years old, including children witih special needs, such as cerebral palsy and autism. I gained the trust of parents by assuring the safety of each child and running well organized and structured swim classes.
