Personable Gardener bringing comprehensive knowledge of botany, horticulture, permaculture, and mycology as well as the various planting seasons for trees, vegetables and flowers. I have general understanding about gathering/cultivating edible and medicinal mushrooms, mycoremediation, and mycorestoration. Organic sustainable agriculture is one of my many passions and what I intend on doing for a career in the future as a managerial farmer.
I'm an Eagle Scout with plenty of hands-on experience with community service, communication skills with children, elderly, and the handicapped, and capable of leading if and when its necessary. During my time in the Boy Scouts I learned team building exercises and how to react quickly and efficiently to immediate medical situations.
While in Troop 71 I designed and created daily lesson plans for activities for troop meetings, conducted small group and individual activities based on differentiated learning needs, and encouraged community outreach. The Eagle project I had to do to earn my rank involved conducting community orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives, monitored team progress and enforced deadlines, document work hours for each volunteer, and manage the budget. My project was to install raised beds at Chief Joesph Elementary school and maintain the school's garden. I was able to organize a work force of over a dozen volunteers who each had a specific task. We constructed the beds and planted flower, fruits, and vegetables for the school and its students to nurture and enjoy.
I'm currently enrolled at Portland Community College (PCC) in the Gateway to College high school transfer program. This organization allows me to get my high school diploma while accumulating college credits. I take college classes alongside other adults of various ages, ethnicities, and cultures. After graduating this summer I plan on continuing my education at PCC to get my associates degree and finish prerequisites for my bachelors degree which I intend on receiving at Oregon State University; Majoring in agricultural business management and minor and agricultural sciences. This particular degree will allow me to gain further knowledge on horticulture, permaculture, mycology, and other sustainable agricultural practices.
