  • Manage two offices and staff of various career levels. Note that I started as the Director of Marketing in January 2012 with one department then in January 2014 was promoted to Director of Marketing and Communications to oversee the Communications office.
  • Establish branding guidelines and protect the APS brand image within the organization, the scientific community, and among other stakeholders.
  • Set and manage the department's budget as well as the promotional budgets for five other departments.
  • Devise marketing and communications plans for education, meetings, membership, publications, and other programs.
  • Lead staff and guide them in implementing the APS strategic plan in order to reach annual goals.
  • Forge partnerships with other organizations to produce mutually-beneficial marketing and advertising exchanges.
  • Manage the advertising sales vendor that sells ads in our 15 publications, newsletters, and other products.
  • Oversee most of the APS ad placements (house and paid). Determine media outlets, creative, ROI measurements, etc.
  • Lead, plan, and execute the meeting exhibit program (10-20/year) and promote the specialized APS conferences (2-3/year).
