Responsible for supervising and directing the financial activities of the hotel and prepare all financial reports in accordance with GAAP. Perform the tasks of monitoring sales, purchases, salaries, payroll, and expenses of the hotel. Prepare forecasts and work with hotel staff to stay within the guidelines of the budget. I was brought in to assist with the closure of the hotel due to re-branding. Supervised a staff of 4 and worked closely with the ownership group and the Local 6 union on severance packages and transfers of employees to other properties. Responsible for all ongoing tax audits and ownerships reports during and after the close of the hotel.
Served in a progressive role in the hotel accounting department for five years working my way from accounts payable manager to an Assistant Controller. Assisted the Director of Finance with the preparation of all financial data including budgeting, forecasts, and month end closings. Supervised a staff of 9 and was deeply involved in all aspects of the management of the hotel accounting department. Assist and council the hotel department staff on the interpretation of financial data and implement recommended courses of action to maximize profitability.
