The Masons are an important national and global charitable and fraternal organization. I am particularly drawn to the fellowship and community work done by this organization. Over the years, my role has expanded from someone sitting on the sidelines to two terms as Master of the Lodge, which meets in Boston. The Boston Lodge dates back to 1733 and includes relationships to the Sons of Liberty and members organizing the Boston Tea Party. My affiliation is with the Consolidated Lodge, dating back to the 1860s as a unit within Grand Lodge, for which I had the honor of serving twice as its leader (Master is like the CEO, managing people, funds, recruiting, and strategies).
In addition, I have joined the local Shrine (Aleppo), which is tied to the Shriner's Hospitals (including 2 in Massachusetts). The Shrine is a Masonic group dedicated to helping crippled and burned children.
With these managerial and networking affiliations, there are solid skills that translate well to sales and sales management.
