I have 23 plus years of career fire service experience, and about 10 years of experience in fire inspection and code enforcement. Most of my career was served as a firefighter and fire apparatus engineer with College Station Fire Department. After retiring in late 2003, I began a second career in fire inspection and code enforcement, initially with Texas A&M University. In 2007, I applied for a fire inspector position with the State Fire Marshal's Office, and shortly thereafter I was appointed as a Deputy State Fire Marshal, assigned to the Inspections Division field staff.

  • Experienced and proficient in Life Safety Code interpretation and research

  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision

  • Experience working on a high-profile case involving inspection of multiple public buildings in the Kemah Boardwalk district in another AHJ's area
  • Provide mentoring and training to SFMO new hires for inspections division
  • Provide assistance to other AHJ's for technical code interpretation
  • Have developed training guides for vertical opening requirements and provisions of the Life Safety Code
  • Developed a power point program for the comparison of Life Safety Code provisions vs. DFPS rules and regulatory requirements of foster home and group home inspections
