Dedicated law enforcement professional with over 21 years experience serving the citizens of Franklin County, IL, through my service with the Sheriff's Office. I have a working knowledge of criminal law, courthouse proceedings, court documentation, patrol efforts, and record maintenance.

Began service in May 1999, as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Patrol division. I attended the Police Training Institute located at the University of Illinois - Champaign during the summer of 1999. Service duties required me to address general calls for service; traffic crashes, domestic violence calls, thefts, criminal damage complaints, traffic law enforcement, and handle basic calls and prepare the matter to be forwarded to Investigations for more detailed follow-up.
In 2013, I was moved from Patrol to Investigations and installed as a Detective. I would handle general criminal calls for service as assigned, i.e.; scam / fraud complaints, Identity Theft, online thefts, sexual assaults, battery complaints, crimes against persons.
Tasks specifically assigned to me within Investigations:
- Registered offender registration and tracking.
- Evidence custodian (maintain records and track items of evidence from submission to testing facilities, their return to this office, and removal for court purposes).
- Gang member identification and record keeping.
I use a computer on a daily basis for report writing, record keeping, and communication.
I joined the IL Army National Guard during my Senior year of high school. I was assigned to the West Frankfort, IL, Armory unit as a rifleman.
I attended Basic / AIT at Ft. Benning, GA, during the summer of 1985.
While in service at the West Frankfort unit I attained the rank of Sergeant / E-5, and attained the position of squad leader.
As part of my assigned duties in addition to maintaining squad integrity and training standards I was assigned as a company / battalion trainer in Battlefield First Aid, Communication techniques, Armor / Air identification, land navigation, and assisted on the firing line during weapons qualifications.
I moved from the Infantry unit to the Battalion headquarters unit from 1995 through 1997, and served as the Battallion Property Book NCO (Non-commissioned Officer). As such I would maintain records of battalion issued equipment and assist the Battalion Supply Sergeant as needed in addition to maintaining Infantry level training for support staff.
Upon hiring at Sam's Club I was assigned to the Center Section of the club. I was certified as a forklift operator and was responsible for stocking items within my assigned area and operating the forklift for other associates areas of responsibility.
I then moved to the Freezer / Cooler section. There I was responsible for maintaining stock levels in the frozen food freezers, refrigerated unit, and produce areas.
I then moved to the Receiving Department and was responsible for unloading transports and ensuring proper item counts. Once unloaded items would be staged for stocking at a later date / time or moved directly to the sales floor for immediate stocking. When required I would also load transports for returns and assist customers with loading items purchased.
I have taken part in numerous training sessions and can provide certificates if needed.
I have been married since 1990. My wife and I reside in West Frankfort, IL. We have raised two daughters. I am a Master Mason affiliated with Frankfort Lodge # 567, located in West Frankfort, IL, having served as Worshipful Master, and on several committees within the lodge.
Prior to my hiring at the Franklin County Sheriff's Office I served as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the West Frankfort, IL, Police Dept. My primary duties were to provide security for local events both school and community related and to assist the department as needed.
I am currently in average health for a middle aged man, but, for disclosure purposes, I suffered a Giant Cell Tumor of the bone to my left shoulder. The resulting treatment was removal of the tumor and a prosthetic implant being installed. As such I have limited use of my left arm related to shoulder activity.
